Napo leads ‘Girl Child’ education crusade

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has reiterated his commitment to championing the cause of girl child education in Ghana.
As a former Minister of Education, Prempeh, affectionately known as ‘Napo’, has consistently advocated for the importance of educating girls, emphasizing the transformative impact it has on individuals, communities, and the nation as a whole.

In a heartfelt Facebook post marking this year’s International Girl Child Day, Prempeh stressed the need for collective action to support girls’ education.
He emphasized that girls should be inspired and accorded all the necessary support and encouragement to climb the academic ladder, thereby boosting their future prospects.

Prempeh’s passion for girl child education is rooted in his conviction that women play vital roles in national development.
He believes that educating girls is essential to unlocking their potential and empowering them to become leaders and change-makers in their communities.

The theme of this year’s International Girl Child Day, “Girl’s Vision for the Future,” resonates deeply with Prempeh. He notes that it aligns with the vision of H.E. Alhaji Dr. Bawumia, emphasizing the need for urgent action and persistent hope, driven by the power of girls’ voices and vision for the future.

Prempeh also drew inspiration from the wise words of Dr. Kwegir Aggrey, who famously said, “If you educate a man, you simply educate an individual, but if you educate a woman, you educate a whole nation.” This quote underscores the profound impact that girl child education can have on families, communities, and society at large.

The NPP Vice Presidential Candidate commended President Akufo-Addo’s government for making significant strides in improving girls’ enrollment in education since assuming office eight years ago.
Notably, the Free Senior High School program has bridged the gap in access to education, bringing girls’ enrollment at par with boys’ at the senior high school level.

Prempeh acknowledged that while progress has been made, there is still much work to be done. He urged citizens to join forces to ensure that girls receive the education they deserve, emphasizing that this is crucial for Ghana’s development and prosperity.

As Ghana celebrates International Girl Child Day, Prempeh’s message serves as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing girl child education. His commitment to this cause is unwavering, and he remains dedicated to advocating for policies and initiatives that promote girls’ education and empowerment.

Under Prempeh’s leadership, the NPP aims to build on the gains made in girls’ education, working towards a future where every girl has access to quality education and opportunities to reach her full potential.
By investing in girls’ education, Ghana can unlock its human potential, drive economic growth, and create a brighter future for generations to come.

As the nation reflects on the progress made and challenges ahead, Prempeh’s call to action resonates with educators, policymakers, and citizens alike.
Together, they can create a supportive environment that empowers girls to succeed, shaping a brighter future for Ghana.
