Newly promoted Ghana Premier League side, Nations FC in a pre-season friendly on Thursday humbled Medeama SC 3-2 at the Glowlap Soccer Academy.
At first half, Nations FC took a 3-1 lead with Isaac Botwe, Barimah Baah and Emmanuel Agyemang getting on the scoresheet. Medeama in the remaining minutes of the game fought back with the hope turning things around but fell short as they lost 3-2. Theophilus Anoba scored in the dying embers of the first half, before Godknows Dzakpasu scored the other goal in the second half.
The two teams used the friendly game to prepare for their upcoming assignments. Nations are preparing for the Division One League Super Cup to be staged at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex from Friday August 18 to Friday, September 1, 2023.
Medeama on the other hand are preparing for their CAF Champions League Preliminary Round match against Nigeria fold Remo Stars.
The 2022-23 betPawa Premier League will continue their preparations for the crucial game with another friendly game against ASKO de Kara of Togo on Sunday, August 6 at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The games against Remo Stars are scheduled for Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Cape Coast Stadium and Sunday, August 27 at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ogun State.
Should Medeama emerge victorious, they’ll play come up against 20-time Guinean champions, Horoya in the second round of qualifiers, with the first leg scheduled for September 15-17 and the second leg September 29 to October 1.
