The Member of Parliament for Sekondi Constituency, Blay Armah Nyameke, has reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling his promises to his constituents, expressing optimism about a new wave of economic and social transformation in the area.
Speaking at an investment meeting held at the Western Regional Coordinating Council (WRCC) on February 18, the MP highlighted the growing interest from investors, which he believes will help restore Sekondi’s former glory.
The meeting, led by Western Regional Minister Joseph Nelson, brought together key stakeholders, including Chinese partners from Jiangsu Zhenhuai Construction Group Company Limited.
Nyameke emphasized that strategic efforts are being made to create an investor-friendly environment in Sekondi, ensuring that the community benefits from the economic growth these partnerships will bring.
“As we promised, we are going to bring investors to help develop Sekondi. Today, we brought in some investors from China that are going to invest in Sekondi,” he stated.
Major Infrastructure Developments
The lawmaker detailed specific projects the Chinese investors will undertake, including the reconstruction of the Sekondi Market and the expansion of the Naval Hospital and Police Hospital.
“Both hospitals are too small to accommodate patients or to service the growing population,” Nyameke explained.
Additionally, recognizing the significance of the fisheries sector to the local economy, the MP announced plans to attract investment into the fishing industry.
“We brought them to come and invest in the fishing harbour,” he revealed, adding that new fishing vessels, a campaign promise, will also be delivered by 2027.
Commitment to Development
Nyameke assured his constituents that he would remain accountable and deliver on all his campaign promises.
Meanwhile, the Chinese investors, led by Li Gang, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with WRCC, signaling a major step toward the implementation of these projects.
The developments, once executed, are expected to boost employment, improve healthcare, and revitalize Sekondi’s economic landscape, marking a new chapter in the constituency’s growth.
