The 12th Biennial Congress of the Ghana Hotels Association in Takoradi at Akroma Plaza Hotel witnessed a distinguished guest as the Western Regional Minister, Mr. Kobby Okyere Darko, graced the occasion with his presence. Addressing the gathering, Minister Darko expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to participate in the congress, emphasizing his role as a participant rather than a mere guest.

In his insightful remarks, Minister Darko underscored the importance of innovation and renovation in the hospitality industry, stating that invention leads to perfection while renovation adds to it. He urged hoteliers to embrace technology as a means to drive prosperity in the country and emphasized the need for strategic marketing decisions to promote growth and competitiveness in the sector.

Highlighting the significance of a well-trained workforce, Minister Darko advocated for comprehensive training programs to equip employees with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet industry standards. He particularly emphasized the importance of youth training in hotel managerial skills, noting that their involvement would add value to hotel facilities and contribute to overall progress in the country.

Minister Darko emphasized the importance of hotels prioritizing and enhancing their offerings to differentiate themselves from competitors and gain recognition in the market. He encouraged individuals to visit hotel facilities and consider investing in the sector as a means to support economic development.

Addressing concerns about unprofessionalism in some hotel establishments, Minister Darko clarified that he did not have direct control over such matters but urged hotel owners and managers to take responsibility for maintaining professionalism and high standards within their establishments.

As Minister Darko’s remarks concluded, attendees at the congress were inspired by his vision for the future of the hospitality industry in the Western Region. With a renewed focus on innovation, training, and professionalism, hotels in the region are poised to thrive and contribute significantly to the country’s economic growth and development.
