Accra, June 12, 2025 — The much-anticipated 2025 President’s Cup has officially been launched, setting the stage for another historic showdown between Ghana’s two biggest football giants — Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak.
The launch, held in Accra, was spearheaded by the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation. This year’s edition marks the 10th anniversary of the prestigious annual competition held in honour of the sitting President of Ghana.
The match is scheduled for Sunday, July 6, 2025, and promises to be a thrilling spectacle between the Kumasi-based Porcupine Warriors and the Accra-based Phobians, who have one of the fiercest rivalries in African club football.
In a unique move to celebrate a decade of the President’s Cup and promote national unity through sports, entry to the stadium will be completely free — an announcement that has sparked excitement among football fans across the country.
“The President’s Cup is not just a football match — it is a celebration of our democracy, our unity, and our love for the game. We are thrilled to offer fans free access this year in appreciation of their unwavering support over the past decade.”
The Ministry of Sports and Recreation echoed the importance of the event, adding that preparations are underway to ensure a successful and secure matchday experience for all attendees.
Both clubs are expected to parade their strongest lineups as they battle not only for the trophy but for pride and supremacy in what has become a symbol of Ghanaian football excellence.
As excitement builds toward July 6, football lovers are being urged to turn up in their numbers and celebrate what is expected to be an unforgettable edition of the President’s Cup.
