Bawumia: I have bold, 21st-Century ideas to transform Ghana

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate, has unveiled his vision for Ghana’s future, promising transformative ideas to drive development.
He emphasized his commitment to working tirelessly and implementing bold solutions to address Ghana’s pressing issues, including debt distress, declining international reserves, and rising inflation.

Bawumia’s vision is built around creating a mindset of possibilities, sustained macroeconomic stability, and prudent management of government expenditure.
He plans to achieve this through various initiatives, including enhancing fiscal discipline, leveraging the private sector, and introducing a new tax system.

He aims to create jobs and wealth through private sector participation, with a focus on agriculture, manufacturing, and technology. To increase government tax revenue, Bawumia proposes to reform and refocus the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) towards broadening the tax base.
He also plans to introduce a simple, citizen and business-friendly flat tax regime, with appropriate exemption thresholds set to protect the poor.

In the area of education, Bawumia plans to enhance the education system, making coding and robotics standard in senior high schools, and providing laptops to students. This initiative will equip the youth with the necessary skills to thrive in the digital age.

To drive Ghana’s digital transformation, Bawumia wants to build a digital economy, with 100% internet penetration, and make Ghana a digital hub. He also aims to maximize benefits from natural resources, through value addition and Ghanaian ownership.

In the power sector, Bawumia plans to reduce electricity costs by diversifying the generation mix and introducing solar and renewable energy. This move will not only reduce costs but also promote sustainable energy solutions.

To reduce the cost of living, Bawumia proposes to tackle agriculture, energy, housing, and transport prices. He wants a Ghana where food security is attained through the application of technology and irrigation to commercial large-scale farming. He also plans to promote the use of agricultural lime to reduce the acidity of soils, enhance soil fertility, and get more yield from the application of fertilizers.

Bawumia’s vision for Ghana’s future is centered around creating a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable nation, where every citizen has access to opportunities and a better life. He believes in the ingenuity of Ghanaians and is committed to working tirelessly to achieve this vision.

“I’m determined to make a difference, a positive difference. I will work for you and with you, with honesty and integrity. With wisdom and decisiveness. I have clarity in my mind as to what I want to do from day one if you make me president,” Dr. Bawumia assured.

“I will not ask for a honeymoon to cool off and think about what to do with the responsibility you will give me. I’m prepared and ready to work if you give me the opportunity. You know what I stand for, you know my vision, I believe in the ingenuity of Ghanaians, together we can succeed in building a progressive society of possibilities, enterprise, compassion, open opportunities, and shared responsibilities of every Ghanaian-born rich or poor.”
