Black Stars Team Manager, Shardow Mohammed Ameenu says Ghana’s senior national team would have been better off with Otto Addo than deciding to kick him out.
He revealed that, Otto Addo who managed Ghana for a short period was building something great and should have continued after the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Borussia Dortmund scout and talent development coach led the four-time African champions to the Mundial in the Asian country but left afterwards to continue with the German club.
His exit was confirmed in December after having Ghana placed bottom of Group H, which had Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
Otto paved way for experienced tactician Chris Hughton, who worked with him at the Mundial as technical advisor. However,
Ameenu Shardow says, Otto Addo would have done better now with the team because he started something with them and knew where he was heading to.
“We would have been better if Otto Addo stayed as Black Stars coach. I have always said it that Otto Addo made mistakes at the World Cup because he hadn’t been there before.
“Otto Addo is someone who learns on the job and Ghana would have been better if he had continued with his job as Black Stars head coach”, he told 3Sports.
Meanwhile, Chris Hughton since his appointment in March 2023, has managed three games winning one and drawing two in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
