Asante Kotoko SC will not participate in this year’s GHALCA top 4 tournament scheduled for August, 2023.
The former Premier League winner’s have officially written to the organisers of GHALCA top 4, thus Executive Council of Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), withdrawing from this year’s tournament.
In a message sent to the organising body, indicated that they will not participate in the upcoming tournament with reason that, the current situation of the club will not permit them to participate in it.
The purpose of the tournament is to offer a preseason platform for the clubs, where they use to access their outfit before fresh season and as well help coaches implement their philosophy or tactics on the team.
GHALCA confirmed this season’s tournament will accommodate only top four finished teams from the 2022-23 BetPawa Premier League will participate.
Thus, Medeama SC, Bechem United, Aduana Stars and Asante Kotoko SC.
However, Kotoko has withdrawn with either the 5th placed team in the league Bibiani GoldStars SC replacing them or MTN FA Cup Champions Dreams FC.
GHALCA has slated to begin tournament on 6th August 2023 and end 13th August, 2023 with Kumasi Baba Yara Stadium hosting it.
