The CAF Champions League group for the defending champions from Ghana, Medeama SC, is more difficult.
The Mauve and Yellow were placed in group D with the Egyptian powerhouses Al Ahly, CR Belouizdad from Algeria, and the Tanzanian team Young Africans.
After defeating Guinean powerhouse Horoya AC in the final round of the preliminary round, Medeama SC was able to qualify for the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
For the first time in the club’s history, Medeama is taking part in the CAF Champions League group stage, becoming the second Ghanaian club (following Berekum Chelsea in 2012) to do so.
