Don’t turn your frustration on Chiefs, Clergy – NAPO tells Mahama

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has cautioned former President John Mahama against criticizing revered chiefs, imams, and pastors without provocation.

Prempeh, also known as ‘NAPO’, believes Mahama’s recent remarks against these leaders stem from frustration and resentment, particularly since they have responded positively to his calls for prayers and support ¹.

According to NAPO, Mahama has realized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has no chance of winning the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections, and has directed his frustration and anger towards innocent people.

NAPO emphasized that Mahama should not take out his frustration on chiefs, clergy, imams, and others who have not offended him.

During a campaign tour at Ofoase in the Juaben constituency, NAPO stated that Mahama’s behavior shows a lack of respect for these leaders. He urged the public not to vote for Mahama and the NDC on December 7.

NAPO also highlighted his own approach, saying he will continue to seek the support and blessings of chiefs, imams, and pastors, and will respect the lands belonging to the chiefs by seeking their permission before starting house-to-house campaigns.

NAPO’s comments come after Mahama faced public backlash for his comments perceived as unprovoked attacks on pastors, chiefs, and imams. NAPO’s warning is a clear indication that the NPP will not tolerate disrespect towards these revered leaders.
