Election 2024: Ghanaians will vote for NDC regardless of our position – Tanko Computer

Rashid Tanko Computer, the Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has expressed unwavering confidence in the party’s chances of winning the 2024 elections, despite securing the eighth spot on the ballot.
His remarks come after the Electoral Commission’s recent balloting exercise, which determined the order of candidates for the upcoming polls.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Big Issue, Tanko Computer emphasized that the ballot position has little bearing on electoral outcomes.

He cited past experiences where the NDC held the top spot but still lost elections, demonstrating that a favorable ballot position does not guarantee victory.

“If you pick number one, it doesn’t guarantee your win,” Tanko Computer stated. “We have placed several times on the number one position and lost the elections.
It doesn’t win you the elections.” This assertion underscores the NDC’s focus on building trust with voters and promoting its vision for Ghana’s future, rather than relying solely on ballot position.

Tanko Computer also highlighted the widespread recognition of the NDC’s symbol, the umbrella. “Ghanaians are voting for the umbrella… everybody is looking at it,” he noted. This sentiment is particularly true in rural communities, where the NDC has a strong presence and loyal support base.

The NDC’s optimism is backed by recent by-elections in Kumawu and Assin North, which showed that voters are becoming increasingly cynical about vote-buying tactics.
Despite efforts by opposing parties to influence voters with cash and other inducements, many voters chose to vote against these parties, demonstrating a growing desire for genuine leadership.

The NDC’s focus on building trust with voters and promoting its vision for Ghana’s future seems to be paying off. With the 2024 elections approaching, Tanko Computer’s confidence in the NDC’s chances is palpable.
He believes that the party’s commitment to addressing pressing national issues, such as economic growth, education, and healthcare, will resonate with voters.

As the campaign season intensifies, the NDC will leverage its strong grassroots network and popular appeal to connect with voters. The party’s eighth position on the ballot has become a rallying cry, with supporters and sympathizers mobilizing to ensure a decisive victory.

In the coming months, Ghanaians will have the opportunity to choose their next leader. The NDC, under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama, is poised to capitalize on its momentum and secure a decisive win.
With Tanko Computer’s assurance, the party is ready to face the challenge, convinced that the umbrella symbol will emerge victorious.

The Electoral Commission’s balloting exercise has set the stage for an intense electoral contest. As the NDC and other parties vie for power, one thing is clear: the 2024 elections will be a defining moment in Ghana’s history.
