Golden Kick Coach Nii Parker Hanson Faces GFA Charge Over Post-Match Comments

Golden Kick Sporting Club head coach, Nii Parker Hanson, has been charged by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Disciplinary Committee following comments he made after his side’s defeat to Asante Kotoko in the MTN FA Cup final.

In a post-match interview, Coach Hanson criticized the performance of the officiating team, stating, “We came to win this trophy but the referee decided the game. It wasn’t a penalty. We all saw it. I was surprised that the referee took that decision. If you watched the reactions of the Kotoko players, none of them protested”. His remarks, according to the GFA, constitute misconduct and are deemed to bring the game into disrepute, a breach of the Division One League Regulations.

The GFA announced the charge as part of its latest update on regulatory actions, noting that the comments made by the Golden Kick head coach violated the association’s code of conduct for club officials.

Nii Parker Hanson has been given until Wednesday, June 18, 2025, to respond to the charge. Failure to do so may result in further disciplinary sanctions.

Golden Kick FC had a strong campaign en route to the FA Cup final but fell short against the more experienced Asante Kotoko side in a match that has since sparked widespread discussion regarding officiating standards.
