Ghanaian giants Accra Hearts of Oak have named former Black Stars assistant coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani as the new head coach of the club’s first team, as part of sweeping technical reforms aimed at reviving the club’s fortunes.

The club made the announcement on Friday, confirming that Coach Dramani has signed a two-year contract and is expected to immediately begin preparations for the highly anticipated 2025 President’s Cup clash against rivals Asante Kotoko, as well as the upcoming Eko International Tournament in Nigeria.

In an official statement, Hearts of Oak said the appointment follows a “comprehensive evaluation” of the team’s performance in the just-ended Ghana Premier League season, which saw the club fall short of its targets.

Coach Dramani brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record to the Phobian bench. He has previously managed top-tier sides including FC Nordsjælland in Denmark and Kumasi Asante Kotoko, where he won back-to-back Ghana Premier League titles. He also served as assistant coach for the Black Stars during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and has been at the helm of the Black Galaxies and the Right to Dream Academy, where he was Head of Football.

Dramani holds top-level coaching credentials, including a UEFA License ‘B’, CAF License ‘A’, and is a certified CAF Instructor and Assessor.

“He is expected to meet with the playing squad and outline his plans and football philosophy,” the club statement read. “His immediate priority is to prepare the team for the upcoming President’s Cup and the Eko International Tournament.”

The appointment of Coach Dramani is seen by many analysts as a bold and strategic move by the Hearts board to restore the club’s competitive edge and reestablish its dominance in both domestic and regional competitions.

Fans of the Phobia club will now be looking forward with renewed optimism as Dramani takes charge of the team’s preseason preparations in the coming days.
