Takoradi based rapper, Yaw Lucaz, has made a bold claim of filling the Sekondi Gyandu park alone in the next one and half years if given the necessary support.
Under the sponsorship of Lawson Herbal, award winning dancehall artist, Shatta Wale, Medikal, and four times Ghana music awards “songwriter of the year” winner, Kofi Kinaata, headlined the “Taadi Invasion” concert at the Gyandu park on Saturday, February 4, 2023, but the turnout didn’t go as many expected.
Shatta Wale and Medikal had earlier filled the Accra Sports stadium (40,000 capacity) on December 25, 2022, so expectations were very high.
Many attributed the low turnout to the tickets price as it was Gh₵50 for regular and Gh₵100 for VIP. Some fans complained about this for being too expensive considering the economy.
Others attributed it to low promotions and others to the venue.
The Sekondi Gyandu park is reported to have hosted just one musical concert from Jamaican reggae artist, Jimmy Cliff, in the 80s. Hence, it’s not a regular place for musical concerts.
On the back of this, Takoradi based rapper and Western Music Awards “rapper of the year” winner, Yaw Lucaz, has made it known on his Facebook page, he can fill the Gyandu park in the next one and half years if give the necessary support, hype and fame, he can do it without putting on any artiste. He also noted, his post should be saved because the Karma spirit of God was talking.
