The Cameroonian International had his medicals on Tuesday and was successful, before signing a long-term contract.
The 27-year-old signed a five-year deal with an option to extend for another year. He comes in as replacement of David De Gea, who departed the club after a 12-year spell.
Onana’s deal is worth €51 million (£43.8 million), with €4 million (£3.4 million) in potential add-ons. He becomes the third most expensive goalkeeper in football history, behind Kepa of Chelsea FC and Allison Becker of Liverpool FC with €80m and €62.5 m respectively.

“To join Manchester United is an incredible honour and I have worked hard all my life to get to this moment, overcoming many obstacles along the way,” Onana said.
“Walking out at Old Trafford to defend our goal and contribute to the team will be another amazing experience. This is the start of a new journey for me, with new teammates, and new ambitions to fight for.
Onana departs the former Serie A champions after just a season. Last season, the exceptional goalkeeper played 41 times for the Nerazzurri in all competitions, including a Champions League final appearance against Manchester City which ended in a 1-0 defeat.
