Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has named a 25-man squad for Ghana’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Sudan.
The list includes notable returns and a debut call-up as the team prepares for crucial back-to-back fixtures.
Defenders Alexander Djiku and Gideon Mensah make their comeback to the squad after missing the previous qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
The duo’s return adds depth and experience to Ghana’s defense as they gear up for the challenge ahead.
One of the standout inclusions is FC Samartex left-back Isaac Afful, who earns his first-ever call-up to the national team.
Afful has been in stellar form in both the preliminary stages of the CAF Champions League and the ongoing Premier League, prompting Otto Addo to hand him this well-deserved opportunity.
Olympique Lyon’s forward Ernest Nuamah and Ibrahim Sulemana of Atalanta have also returned to the squad after recovering from injuries that ruled them out of the last round of qualifiers.
Ghana will face Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, October 10, 2024, before heading to Libya for the reverse fixture on Tuesday, October 14, at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benina, Libya.
These matches are pivotal as the Black Stars look to secure their qualification for the 2025 AFCON tournament.
