Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer, has made a significant pledge to the people of Sege, promising to construct a sea defense system and a mini harbour if he becomes Ghana’s next President.
This move aims to address the long-standing issue of tidal waves devastating Sege and its surrounding areas, while also boosting the local economy through improved infrastructure for the fishing industry.
During his tour of the Greater Accra Region, Bawumia emphasized the urgent need for development in Sege, highlighting its strategic position as a fishing hub.
He noted that critical infrastructure is necessary to safeguard residents’ livelihoods and enable economic growth.
Bawumia stated that constructing a mini harbour would be an essential step toward modernizing the fishing industry in Sege, facilitating better trade and market access for fishermen and traders. He also promised to work on the sea defense system to protect the area from tidal waves.
“We need a mini-harbour… and that is a very important thing. And then, of course, very important, we need to do the sea defence for this area,” Bawumia said. “So I have a lot to do for you. If I come back in four years, I will have to give an account of what I have done with the sea defence.”
Bawumia’s commitment to Sege’s development is crucial, considering the area’s potential as a fishing hub. By addressing the pressing issue of tidal waves and investing in infrastructure, he aims to create a thriving economic environment for the community.
