Ghanaian actor, artiste, choreographer and movie producer, Kobi Rana, has vent his spleen on how the National Film Authority have been dealing with him and other film producers in Ghana.
Kobi Rana some time ago had his movie stopped from being premiered by the Ghana Tourism Authority. The ban was attributed to the COVID-19 protocols which the president of Ghana, Nana Akuffo-Addo declared. But Kobi claimed they had an ulterior motive.
Recently, he has produced another movie titled “Till Deaf Do Us Apart” – Valentine’s Day Movie, which stars himself, Fella Makafui, Roslyn Ngissah, Kalybos, and Kafui Danku.

The movie was scheduled to be premiered across the country under the “Ghana Is Beyond Accra” initiative aside its first premiere at the Accra Airport View Hotel on Tuesday, February 14, 2023.
Venues chosen for the premiere of the movie were hotels and school auditoriums.
According to Kobi Rana, he went to the National Film Authority office for the clarification of his movie and everything was okay, few hours later, they called the hotels he had booked for his premiere not to allow him because they don’t have license for that.
This triggered the movie producer to warn the National Film Authority, saying they’re not the tourism ministry so they should stay away from calling the hotels. If they have issues, they should him and not the hotels.
From Kobi Rana, the National Film Authority are demanding him to show his movie at a cinema of which he will give 50% of the entire proceeds to the cinema. Something he deem impossible.
He further noted, if the National Film Authority keep on doing that, they will rather push away the movie producers away, hence, failing their core mandate, he said in an interview.
