Afrobeats is top genre now and you can’t write history of it without acknowledging how far Nigerians have taken it.
From Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Rema, Fireboy DML, Asake and the rest who are topping charts and gaining massive streams on digital streaming platforms has been a major factor.
Burna Boy, Davido and Wizkid have all sold out the iconic o2 Arena and you can’t write that off as a contributing factor to where afrobeats is now.
Stonebwoy in an interview with Charlamagne Tha God, Dj Envy and Nene Leakes on “The Breakfast Club” show in New York explained what he thinks is the reason behind Nigerian music achieving such feat.
He was asked why Nigerian music is seeing more success than Ghanaian music by the host, and he had this to say;
According to Stonebwoy, numbers as in populace are part of the reasons though the numbers won’t be number one on his list but it’s also a factor.
