The newly-built TnA Stadium in Tarkwa by Goldfields Ghana Foundation is ready to be officially commissioned on Friday, August 16, 2024.
The much-anticipated event will begin with a Handing Over Ceremony at 9:00 AM, marking a significant milestone for the city and its sports community.
The ceremony will feature a curtain-raiser match between the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) and the staff of Goldfields. This friendly encounter will set the tone for the day’s celebrations, showcasing the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship.
Following the curtain-raiser, the stadium will be temporarily closed and reopened at 4:00 PM for the main event – a thrilling clash between Medeama SC and Asante Kotoko Sporting Club. This match promises to be a highlight, drawing fans from across the region to witness top-tier Ghanaian football in the brand-new venue.
Importantly, no tickets will be sold for the event. Instead, tickets have been pre-printed and will be distributed accordingly. Both Medeama SC and Asante Kotoko have received their allocations to distribute to their respective fans, ensuring that loyal supporters can attend this historic event.
Adding to the excitement, renowned Ghanaian artists Samini and Fameye will headline the entertainment segment following the Medeama SC vs. Asante Kotoko match. Their performances will cap off a day of celebration and sporting excellence, creating an unforgettable experience for all attendees.
The Sports Minister will be representing the Vice President Dr Bawumia in commissioning the stadium and GFA President Kurt Okraku will also grace the occasion.
The commissioning of the TnA Stadium represents a significant investment in the sports infrastructure of Tarkwa and is expected to become a key venue for future sporting events in the region.
The state-of-the-art facility will not only serve as the home ground for Medeama SC but also stand as a symbol of growth and development for the local community.
