Ghana’s rental housing sector has taken a significant leap towards modernization, efficiency, and inclusivity with the launch of the Rent Control Department’s Digital Platform.
This groundbreaking initiative, unveiled by Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, aims to revolutionize rent administration by digitizing essential services and enhancing the overall experience for tenants and landlords.
Speaking at the launch, held at the forecourt of the Architecture and Engineering Services Limited (AESL), Dr. Armah emphasized that this marks a new era for Ghana’s public service, characterized by modernization, efficiency, and inclusivity.
He highlighted the Rent Control Department’s vital role in promoting peaceful coexistence between landlords and tenants and ensuring access to safe, adequate, and affordable housing.
However, Dr. Armah acknowledged that the Department’s manual processes had long hindered this mission, causing inefficiencies, delays, and frustrations for the public.
To address this, the Ministry of Works and Housing partnered with Supertech Limited, a leading technology solutions provider, to digitize 15 Rent Control offices across 11 regions in the first phase of the project.
The digital platform will offer numerous benefits, including fairness, efficiency, and convenience, making it an equalizer for all Ghanaians regardless of location or financial circumstances.
Dr. Armah stressed that the platform will bring transparency and accountability to the rental housing sector, empowering both tenants and landlords to access essential services with ease.
The Deputy Minister reassured the public that the Ministry is committed to extending the digital transformation to all 16 regions, ensuring that Ghanaians nationwide can access rent services more easily.
He unveiled the platform’s web portal, (link unavailable), and encouraged all Ghanaians to embrace the new system, marking a cultural shift towards transparency, accountability, and empowerment in public service.
