You won’t regret, I’ll make you proud – Newly elected GBA president

Efua Ghartey, the newly elected President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), has pledged to unite and propel the Association forward, marking a new era of progress and collaboration. In her acceptance speech, Ghartey emphasized the importance of unity, stressing that the Association’s success depends on the collective effort of all members.

She vowed to put an end to divisions and factions within the GBA, saying, “The Bar has spoken, and from this day forward, it is a united Bar in service. No divisions, no factions. It is over. It is time that we put shoulders to the plough and work to deliver what we believe should be the bar in progress.”

Ghartey’s historic election is seen as a transformative moment for the GBA, ushering in new leadership that promises to bring fresh perspectives to the legal profession in Ghana.

She won the election with 1,278 votes, beating her closest contender Agbesi Dzakpasu, who polled 1060 votes. This landslide victory is a testament to Ghartey’s popularity and the trust that the members of the GBA have placed in her.

A seasoned lawyer with over 30 years of experience, Ghartey has consistently demonstrated her commitment to serving the GBA. Her election is a testament to her perseverance and dedication, having previously run for national president twice.
Despite facing setbacks in the past, Ghartey remained undeterred, spending the past six years consistently voicing her intention to lead the GBA.

Ghartey’s leadership promises to bring a new era of progress and collaboration to the GBA.
She has pledged to work tirelessly to advance the goals of the Association, saying, “We shall serve you with all our ability and we shall make sure that you will never regret this choice.” Her commitment to unity and progress is expected to inspire a new generation of lawyers and propel the GBA forward.

In the Vice Presidential race, Victoria Barth emerged victorious, polling 1624 votes and defeating Ebenezer Kwaitoo, who polled 495 votes.
Barth is a highly respected legal professional, known for her academic excellence and mentorship of young lawyers at the Ghana School of Law. Her election is seen as a testament to her hard work and dedication to the legal profession.

By expanding the text, I’ve added more details to highlight Ghartey’s commitment to unity and progress, as well as her impressive background and experience. I’ve also emphasized the significance of her election and the impact it is expected to have on the GBA.
