In his 25-man team for this month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Central African Republic in Kumasi, Chris Hughton has included Medeama SC forward Jonathan Sowah. The former Danbort FC forward scored 12 goals for the league champions during the second transfer window to help them win the championship.
Elisha Owusu and Baba Iddrisu are also on the team after making their comebacks from injuries. Elisha Owusu, who sustained an injury in February and hasn’t played for Ghana since the FIFA World Cup finals in November of last year, missed the FIFA World Cup in Qatar while Baba Iddrisu was unable to go.
Goalkeeper Richard Ofori, who is based in South Africa, is also back on the team after missing the last match for Ghana on September 27, 2022, when Ghana defeated Nicaragua 1-0 in a pre-World Cup friendly in Lorca, Spain.
Arsenal’s star Thomas Partey is not on the team because of an injury. The player may be sidelined for some time after suffering an injury in training, according to his club, but the Black Stars medical staff is keeping an eye on the situation.
On Thursday, September 7, 2023, Central Africa Republic will travel to Ghana for their final Group E match at the Baba Yara Sports stadium.
