An Accra High Court has granted a request by lawyers for Shatta Wale to settle the defamation case filed against him by Bulldog out of court.
The artiste manager, Bulldog had sued Dancehall musician, Shatta Wale over claims of defamation and for malicious publication of falsehood against him by the defendant.
“The series of publications that Defendant has made and continues to make about Plaintiff are actuated by plain malice,” the writ filed by Bulldog’s Lawyer, Justice Srem-Sai said.
In court on Tuesday, March 7, lawyers of the plaintiff, led by Dr Justice Srem-Sai, told the court that the parties have started negotiations for settlement and would need a month’s adjournment.
He said, this is the reason they were unable to file the written submissions as per the orders of the court.
“We would like to request one more adjournment to try and reach an agreement, and depending on the outcome, we may formally request an extension of time to file our witness statement,” Dr Justice Srem-Sai told the court.
Justice Joseph Adu Agyemang Owusu presiding over the Accra High Court’s General Jurisdiction 13, encouraged them to settle the matter out of court after listening to the parties.
The case is hereby postponed until April 18, 2023.
Background;
Shatta Wale in November 2022 made some allegations about Bulldog (his former manager). According to Shatta Wale, Bulldog had something to do with the murder of Fennec Okyere who was killed on March 13, 2014, at his Manet Gardens residence on the Spintex Road, Accra, by unknown assailants.
Lawrence Asiamah Hanson alias Bulldog was picked up by the Police Criminal Investigative Department (CID) as a suspect after Fennec’s death.
This was because Bulldog who had regular misunderstandings with Fennec Okyere, had supposedly threatened him in an interview.
He was discharged by the court in 2017 after the Attorney-General noted there was no evidence against the accused.
