Nigerian Coaches, Captains Snubbed Osimhen And Oshoala For FIFA Best
The Best FIFA Football Awards 2022 ceremony held in Paris on Monday, February 27, saw Barcelona’s Alexia Putellas, and PSG Lionel Messi crowned as the outstanding players of the year 2022.
The award is determined by votes from national team captains and coaches, journalists and fans.
FIFA had published how each captain and coach voted… Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa did not vote for Osimhen and his Super Falcons counterpart Onome Ebi overlooked compatriot Asisat Oshoala in her part.
Osimhen was outstanding for both club and country in the year under review (2022) but failed to get any vote for his superb form from his compatriots.
Oshoala, on her part, won the Pichichi award, the prize for the top scorer in the Spanish league; and also a treble with the Barcelona Femini.
