Ace radio broadcaster based in Takoradi, Asasewura Kwabena Santana, has slammed Qwaachi, who is a father to young artiste, Foto Copy, and also doubles as his manager.
A video posted on BRYTE TV’s Facebook page on March 22, 2023, caught fire after young artiste, Foto Copy, opined that 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards “Artiste of the Year,” Kuami Eugene, is the artiste he hates most in the music industry because he denied him a feature and said his numbers are small.
Kuami Eugene denied this in an interview and said the only thing he told them was to pass through the right channel.
Netizens started chastising Kuami Eugene after the video popped up.
Speaking with Ato Kwamena Otoo D’Gem on Connect FM’s ENTERTAINMENT REVIEW SHOW, Asasewura Kwabena Santana had this to say;
“Qwaachi should be blamed for what happened between Kuami Eugene and Fotocopy. He’s not a good artiste manager.
If you want a feature for your artiste, you need to use the right means. The approach was wrong. He failed as an artiste manager in that regard. You know how fragile the mentality of kids are, so if you’re working with such artiste, you don’t walk with him to an artiste and ask for a feature just like that. I think Kuami Eugene was even lenient. No one should blame Kuami Eugene, he did nothing wrong.”
Back Story;
Hostess MC Yaa Yeboah asked which top artiste in Ghana he(Foto Copy) would like to feature in an interview on BRYTE TV on March 22, 2023. Foto Copy asserted he hasn’t thought of any.
She then asked if he’s asked of any Ghanaian artiste and he has turned him down. The young artiste again said no to that.
The hostess went on and said she’s heard stories where he wanted to feature Kuami Eugene and he turned him down claiming he had small numbers.
Here was his reply;
“Oh yeah, Kuami Eugene. But let’s not talk about that.”
MC Yaa Yeboah insisted it was necessary to talk about that, don’t he think so?
Foto Copy replied;
“yeah, because the whole industry, he’s the one I hate.”
The hostess asked if that wasn’t a strong word to use, but he affirmed;
“he’s the one I hate. From what he said, that my numbers are too small so I can’t feature him, it took me more than week before I could eat. It was the reason why Shatta Wale reached out for ‘School Dey Be’ feature.”
Reacting to this, Kuami Eugene denied saying Foto Copy has small numbers as reason why he wouldn’t grant him a feature.
In an interview on Joy Prime, the ‘Wish Me Well’ hitmaker gave a different account.
“I was at Richie’s (Lynx Entertainment CEO) mom’s place eating ‘rice balls (local dish)’ when Qwaachi, the father who also doubles as manager for Foto Copy came, they brought up the proposal of me granting the boy a feature and I told them it doesn’t work that way. If they want, I can lead them myself to have conversations with Richie Mensah (Lynx Entertainment CEO). It’s not even him alone, I have a road manager and others investing in me so conversations has to go on. It’s not like I know you so we should just do anything. I have more than 50 people I left at Fadama where they all need such help, but if we go about it anyhow, it won’t benefit anyone and our careers will be somehow. But because Qwaachi and I knew each other, he thought otherwise and he and the boy didn’t take it lightly. He’s just a little boy and he doesn’t know some of the words he used (talking about Foto Copy’s interview with MC Yaa Yeboah).
Do you think I will say such words to a kid and vibe with him. There’s a video out there where I was even vibing with the boy.”
Kuami was the asked if he would consider a feature in future.
“I don’t think so, after the things the boy said, I don’t think so,” he noted.
