Givova Sporting Academy has officially confirmed the appointment of seasoned football tactician Anthony Sangmor, popularly known as Coach Tony, on a one-year contract. This move comes just days after his resignation from his role as head coach of Sekondi Hasaacas.
The club announced Coach Tony’s appointment in a statement released on Thursday, expressing optimism about the experience and expertise he brings to the team. The former Rail Stars and Hasaacas coach is expected to lead a new era for the Academy side.
Coach Tony’s mandate is clear: qualify Givova Sporting Academy for the Western Regional Football Association (WRFA) Super Middle League in the upcoming 2025/26 season and subsequently secure qualification to the Division One League within the same campaign.
Management believes the appointment of the experienced coach aligns with the club’s ambitions of rising through the ranks of Ghanaian football.
Coach Tony is well-regarded in the Western Region for his tactical acumen and ability to build competitive teams, especially from grassroots and lower-division levels. His recent stint with Hasaacas saw moments of promise despite the challenges.
Speaking after his unveiling, Coach Tony expressed gratitude for the new opportunity and pledged to give his all in meeting the club’s objectives.
“This is a new challenge I welcome with pride and determination. I believe in the talent at Givova, and with the right support, we can achieve great things,” he said.
Givova Sporting Academy is currently preparing for pre-season, with training expected to intensify under the new technical direction in the coming weeks.
