A list of candidates for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) elections, which are scheduled for September 27 in Tamale, has been released.
The former Ghana FA Vice-President, George Afriyie, will face off against Kurt Okraku for the GFA presidency for a second time, according to the list, after their first encounter in October 2019.
With his four-year term as GFA capo set to expire next month, Okraku is running for re-election.
For the eleven positions open on the Executive Council, nominations have been submitted for seventeen illustrious football administrators.
In the next elections, only eleven football administrators will be chosen to serve on the GFA Exco.
The GFA Exco will be made up of five Premier League delegates, three Division One representatives, two representatives from regional football associations, and a Women’s League representative.
The president of the Ghana Football Association will have a spot reserved by default.
Along with Samuel Anim Addo, Nana Oduro Sarfo, Frederick Acheampong, Tony Augbyn, Randy Abbey, and Kingsley Osei Bonsu, Mark Addo, the GFA’s vice president at the moment, is running for re-election to the Council.
Along with Hearts of Oak board member Alhaji Akanbi, former Black Stars head coach Kwesi Appiah, who is currently Asante Kotoko’s technical director, will compete for a position on the Executive Council.
Elloeny Amande, a well-known broadcast journalist and the CEO of Karela United, and Raphael Gyambrah, the current chairman of the Brong Ahafo Regional Football Association, are both competing for a position on the Executive Council.
