For a large portion of the season, Man City trailed Arsenal, but an unbroken streak of performances from February to May allowed them to make up ground.
Arsenal’s defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday sealed City’s third consecutive title and sixth overall since Guardiola joined the team. They have won the Premier League seven times, making this their ninth top-flight triumph.
The players hurried to the locker room after a brief pitch invasion. Later, the City players were applauded as they ascended the podium one by one, and Ilkay Gundogan then raised the trophy in front of a jubilant crowd at the Etihad Stadium.
Due to Arsenal’s loss, Guardiola took several adjustments and changed his team. Among others, he provided chances for Cole Palmer, Kalvin Phillips, Rico Lewis, Sergio Gomez, and Stefan Ortega in goal.
The celebrations were a little more subdued than they were when City defeated Aston Villa on the last day of the season to win the league. Pep Guardiola will have his team concentrated on the challenges at hand because the Champions League and FA Cup finals are still to come.
