Kashala Ramos Wanet, a Congolese attacker, scored his maiden goal for Hearts of Oak in match day 2 of the Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Hearts of Oak had a disappointment to the start of the 2023-24 Ghana Premier League campaign after suffering 1-0 in the hands of Real Tamale United.
Hearts of Oak redeemed themselves after defeating Nsoatreman FC 1-0 on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, avenging their loss in their opening game.
The game’s deciding goal was scored by Congolese attacker Kashala Ramos Wanet just four minutes in with a close-range effort.
Wanet’s header originally struck the post but then deflected in his direction, giving him the opportunity to score without error and give Hearts of Oak the lead.
Hearts of Oak failed to extend their lead despite having a numerical advantage as Nsoatreman midfielder Philip Ofori was dismissed in the 35th minute.
Hearts of Oak, who had previously battled against the former Black Stars assistant coach, felt some comfort after the triumph, which put an end to a run of games without a victory over Nsoatreman coach Maxwell Konadu. Since he played for WA All Stars, Kotoko, and Legon Cities, Konadu had a strong history against Hearts of Oak.
Hearts of Oak’s season got off to a bad start when they fell to Real Tamale United 1-0 in their opening match. However, their performance on Sunday was encouraging, and as the season goes on, they’ll be hoping for more reliability and better goal scoring.
After a winning start to the season, Nsoatreman’s loss was their first of the year. Going forward, they will need to reflect and make changes.
