A deal has been concluded between FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid for the player João Félix to be loaned out until June 30, 2024. A permanent transfer is not an option.
The player received a public thank-you from the club for his financial contribution and ambition to wear the Barça jersey.
João Félix made his first team debut for Benfica during the 2018–19 season at the young age of 18, launching himself onto the spotlight. The midfielder quickly established himself as a regular starter for the club with its base in Lisbon. Félix had a fantastic season, contributing seven assists in addition to 15 goals as Benfica won the championship.
He participated in 43 games across all leagues, mesmerizing the crowd with his skill and ingenuity in the final third of the field. He was voted the Golden Boy winner that year, and both Pedri and Gavi went on to win the award.
Atlético Madrid was impressed by his performances, and the club made him the most expensive acquisition in its history. João Félix has played more than 100 times for the team from the capital in three and a half seasons since signing in the summer of 2019. The Portuguese international has previous English playing experience thanks to his loan stint with Chelsea during the second half of the 2022–23 season.
João Félix, who is only 23 years old, has the opportunity to showcase his talent in a Barça jersey after declaring his long-held desire to be a blaugrana.
