Manager of Atletico Madrid Diego Simeone made light of the fact that players who engage in sex simply four times per month are ineligible to play for him.
With one game remaining in the season, the Argentinean, 53, who has been in control of Atletico Madrid since 2011, has assured at least a third-place finish in LaLiga.
Simeone spoke on his own future at the club as well as some of the immediate challenges facing Atletico, such as Joao Felix’s return from Chelsea, in an interview with Cadena COPE.
In the lengthy conversation, however, there was also time for personal issues. Simeone made the unusual remark after the presenter referenced a study that claimed the typical Spaniard has sex 56 times per year.
Simeone answered, “How many?” 56… 56 a year… How many occur in a month? a month, four? a month, not four…
“You can’t play for my team if you only play four times a month.”
The COPE studio burst up in hysterical laughter with this response.
Simeone said, “Fifteen a month?,” in response to the interviewers’ request for a more precise figure. We have a good average, but I won’t admit that.
