Team Move FC of Effiakuma has been given another chance to qualify for Ghana Football’s second tier.
This follows the Ghana Football Association’s latest decision to locate a replacement for WAFA SC, who announced earlier this week their intention to resign from the division one league in order to focus only on youth football development in the Volta Region.
As a result, the GFA used Article 78 of its statutes to determine the way forward, resulting in a playoff system between the various middle league losing finals for clubs entitled to compete in Zone 2 of the Division One League.
The decision implies that Mahala FC, the losers of the Ashanti Regional Middle League, and Young Red Bull FC, the losers of the Central Regional Middle League, will join Team Move FC in a playoff series.
Ghanaian music singer Kofi Kinaata owns Team Move, a Western Regional Division 2 team. The club recently lost the single spot in the regional Divisional Middle League playoff against Rospak FC, capping off a spectacular run in Ghana’s third division.
The clubs have been invited to confirm their participation in writing to the GFA by today, Wednesday, August 9, according to a circular received by FMiG.
