The Western Regional Football Association (WRFA) has officially called off the 2023/24 Super Middle League final between Sekondi Eleven Wise Football Club and Nsuopun Fidelity FC. The decision was announced following security concerns that arose from recent disturbances.
An official statement from the WRFA read: “For Security Reasons, We Have Called off Our Final Middle League game involving Sekondi Eleven Wise FC and Nsuopun Fidelity FC indefinitely.”
The final match was initially scheduled to take place on June 30, 2024. However, fans of Zico Professionals Football Club invaded the pitch, causing a significant disruption and preventing the game from proceeding. This forced the WRFA to reschedule the match for the following day, but escalating security concerns led to the decision to call off the game indefinitely.
The WRFA’s move highlights the importance of ensuring the safety of players, officials, and spectators. The association has yet to announce any further details on when or if the final match will be rescheduled. Fans and stakeholders are encouraged to stay tuned for updates regarding the future of the Super Middle League final.
