Popular comic actor Yaw Dabo has expressed his disappointment at Ghana’s football giants, Asante Kotoko, for not recognizing the talent he has offered them.
In an interview on Kessben FM’s “Midfield Action with Joe Laka,” Dabo revealed that he has tried to introduce some of his talented players to the club, but his efforts have been in vain due to a lack of faith.
As a devoted fan of Asante Kotoko, Yaw Dabo is known for his love of the team, and he has shown a keen interest in contributing to its success by offering up-and-coming talents.
In the interview, he recalled a specific incident involving one of his players, Afriyie Banieh, whom he attempted to introduce to the club.
“I have the talented players. Chairman Solo once saw me and asked why I don’t give some of my players to Kotoko, and I told him that I do offer players to them, just like I did with Afriyie Banieh to Hearts of Oak,” Yaw Dabo explained.
The actor highlighted how he had sent Afriyie Banieh to Asante Kotoko for a pre-season trial under the leadership of coach Johnson Smith. Unfortunately, despite the player’s potential and the opportunity to showcase his skills, the club ultimately chose not to sign him.
Dabo’s frustrations stem from his desire to see promising young players get a chance to shine at one of Ghana’s most prominent football clubs.
He believes that his players have the talent and dedication to contribute positively to the club’s success.
Asante Kotoko, often referred to as the “Giant of Ghana football,” has a rich history and a massive fan base. Many aspiring footballers dream of wearing the red and white jersey and playing for this iconic team.
Yaw Dabo’s offer to introduce fresh talent to the club reflects his passion for both the team and the development of football in Ghana.
The story highlights the challenges that young talents can face in gaining recognition and opportunities at top football clubs, even when they have the support of passionate individuals like Yaw Dabo.
It underscores the importance of creating pathways for promising players to showcase their abilities and contribute to the future of Ghanaian football.
