Harry Maguire to receive a £10million pay-off from Manchester United

Harry Maguire to receive a £10million pay-off from Manchester United

Harry Maguire will receive a £10 million payout from Manchester United if he leaves the club this summer.

Harry Maguire

The 30-year-old captain’s farewell game for United will probably be Saturday’s FA Cup final because he is anticipated to sit on the bench against Manchester City at Wembley.

Maguire cost Leicester £80 million in 2019, but given his advanced age and the fact that he is two-thirds of the way through a six-year contract, his current value is more in line with £30 million.

Maguire still has two more years left on his £190,000-per-week deal, and it’s anticipated that he’d make half that at a new team, requiring United to pay a £10 million salary bill to get him off their books. Maguire is still under contract with United for two more years.

Maguire has only started 16 of United’s 61 games in all competitions this season due to manager Erik ten Hag’s decision to put Lisandro Martinez, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof, and Luke Shaw ahead of him in center defense.

Raphael Varane (right) and Lisandro Martinez (left) have replaced Maguire as the first-choice center-halves at Old Trafford, which has reduced Maguire’s playing time.

Erik ten Hag asserts that the club captain is planning to leave Manchester United this summer and that “no-one would be happy” if he didn’t get enough playing time.

Erik ten Hag thinks Harry Maguire should decide on a future at Manchester United.
The disliked Red Devils manager is anticipated to quit Old Trafford in the summer.

Harry Maguire must make a decision on his future employment with Manchester United following this summer.
Despite serving as United’s captain, Maguire has only contributed somewhat this season under Erik ten Hag (left).
Raphael Varane, though, is a fierce rival there.

Ten Hag believes David de Gea will agree to a new contract to stay at Old Trafford longer, but he warned the Spaniard that the No. 1 spot is not certain.

The Times quoted Ten Hag as saying, “I will not say he’ll always be my No. 1 because in a club like Man United there must be competition in all positions.” To offer De Gea greater competition, United is looking to hire a new goalkeeper.

With 11 players, it’s not doable. It is not possible. There are two roles needed.

The manager of United believes De Gea must continue to improve his ability to play out from the back. It’s not what I want, rather, it’s what modern elite football wants, he continued.

It’s impossible with 11 players. It cannot be done. You require two positions.

De Gea needs to keep becoming better at playing out from the back, according to United’s boss. ‘It’s not what I desire, it’s rather what top football demands nowadays,’ he continued.

‘If you observe the biggest teams, you have to be capable of playing from the back and use your keeper as a plus one, otherwise it’s very simple for opponents to put you under pressure.

He had to step up. In a number of games, he showed progression.’
