Medeama SC left back Fatawu Abdul Hamidu, named in Black Stars squad for international friendly games against USA and Mexico
Coach Chris Houghton has named a 23-man squad to face Mexico and the USA in international friendlies.
After putting up a standout performance for the Ghana Premier League champions, Fatawu Hamidu has been rewarded, and he was called to replace Baba Rahman in a friendly against Liberia at Accra Sports Stadium. Chris Hughton has once again bet on Hamidu to be in the squad to brief the left back position.
He has played a key role in Medeama’s success at home, helping the team win the league and the Super Cup and helping the team qualify to the CAF Champions League Group Stage.
The Black Stars will play two friendlies against the USA and Mexico. These exhibition games are meant to help the team prepare for the challenging competition in 2026 World Cup qualifiers in November.
Additionally, Ghana will have tough opposition in the World Cup qualifiers, particularly from Mali, as both countries are favorites in their respective groups to advance to the illustrious competition that will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
